Just finished painting this
French Provincial highboy, even though I have had this piece for awhile. I was very excited to find it in a local consignment shop, for it is hard to find these chest on chest drawers. I thought for a long time on what color to paint it and blue with cream trim kept popping up in mind. I can imagine it in a nursery, girl's bedroom or guest room. The
dresser was originally that Mid Century yellow and with an off white trim. It was cleaned and painted with two layers of a tinted primer. Then I layered it with different tones of a pretty blue color. After that a white wash to mimic aged paint, followed by a dark glaze to antique it. I think the antique glaze makes the blue color a bit more sophisticated. Last layer is a satin acrylic sealant that makes it durable.

Original hardware painted to complement the new look.

Drawers are very clean and well made

Lots of details...
